Winter Evening, New Zealand / Australia: Hand-Embellished Print

This is the hand-embellished print of Winter Evening, New Zealand / Australia, made by me in my Sydney studio. The original is in a private collection.

120 x 50 cm, originally painted 2021. Acrylic on canvas, informed by aerial photographs I personally captured at 30,000 feet over the meeting point of New Zealand and Australia at winter dusk. Deep blues, warm violets, and slow whites that hold the moment one country becomes another from above.

This isn't a poster. Each print is hand-embellished by me with ink and synthetic polymer, signed and numbered on the back. Edition of 25 per size, each one a unique hand-embellished variation. No two are exactly the same.

What makes this print unique

Line work embeds the topographic mapping of the Tasman crossing. A cartography of edges and the moments where two homes become one body of water. Part of Maps to Milk: Contemporary Cartography of the Diaspora.

About the artist
