Summer Sunset in Rural Tuscany: Hand-Embellished Print

This is the hand-embellished print of Summer Sunset in Rural Tuscany, made by me in my Sydney studio. The original has found its home with a private collector.

I took the aerial photograph from a plane window at 30,000 feet over rural Tuscany, the place where I stopped running and started breathing. Pinks, oranges, and yellows wash across the surface, held together by white topographic line work tracing the Tuscan terrain and curved roads.

This isn't a poster. Each print is hand-embellished by me with ink and synthetic polymer, signed and numbered on the back. Edition of 25 per size, each one a unique hand-embellished variation. No two are exactly the same.

What makes this print unique

The original was acrylic on canvas. This print preserves the embedded aerial photograph and the topographic line work, then I hand-embellish each one with architectural details and painted edges. Part of Maps to Milk: Contemporary Cartography of the Diaspora.

About the artist
