Evening in Dubai

Evening in Dubai, available as an open edition print or a hand-embellished edition, both made by me in my Sydney studio. The original has found its home with a private collector.

I took the aerial photograph from a plane window at 30,000 feet, en route to exhibit in the UAE as Australia's Art Ambassador. A painted figure emerges from the layers: a woman surfacing from the terrain below, where desert meets city meets sea at dusk.

Choosing your finish

Open edition, from $65. The full artwork, archival printed on cotton rag paper and signed by me. Same image and same paper as the hand-embellished edition, in four sizes from A5 up.

Hand-embellished, from $499. The same print, then worked back into by hand with ink and synthetic polymer: architectural detail, painted edges, marks that follow the terrain underneath. Signed and numbered on the back, edition of 25 per size, Certificate of Authenticity included. Each one is a different variation, so the one you receive exists once.

The difference in price is the hand work, several hours on each print, and the edition limit of 25 per size.

About the artist

Brigitte Gerges is a Lebanese-Australian contemporary artist working from her studio in Sydney. Australian Art Ambassador under UNESCO patronage (Zee Arts Gallery Dubai, 2024). Florence Biennale exhibitor, 2023. Collected across Australia, the USA, Japan, Austria, and Dubai.
